Shopping experience is great in Singapore and especially when it is confined with some funny things. You can get different things in different places. Some of the items are selected and discussed to avoid problems finding them while in Singapore.
Games: Video and computer games are widely available in Singapore. Prices are usually cheaper than in the West. Games are available from different countries like Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and even the United States. Different game stores are there where you will get all these stuff. Games sold for the local market are usually in English. You can also find some in Chinese language. Video games are very popular in Singapore. The regional code is NTSC-J. This is same as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and the rest of Southeast Asia. These are not compatible with Europe, consoles in North America, mainland China, Australia or India.
Marine sports: You can find various shops situate just opposite to The Concourse on Beach Rd in Bugis. These shops sell fishing and scuba diving gear.
Hi-fi stereos: The Adelphi i.e. Riverside has best selection of audiophile shops in Singapore.
Music: You can find Singapore’s largest music store i.e. the three-story HMV in the Heeren on Orchard. A second and smaller outlet is situated in the City Link mall linking Raffles City and Suntec City Mall. Good selections of gramophone as well as CDs are available. Numerous branches are scattered across the CBD and Orchard Road which will definitely attract you. Better locations where you can find Gramophone can be named as Capitol Centre at street level on North Bridge Road and at Ngee Ann City in B2.
Tea: Chinatown’s Yue Hwa on 2nd floor is the place where you can get some excellent tea. This is actually unbeatable for both price and variety. But Time for Tea in Lucky Plaza is also a good alternative. English tea is also widely available around Orchard Road. Special mention can be given to Marks and Spencer in Centre point.
