Some good shopping items in Singapore

Singapore is famous for various electronic goods. You can get laptops and other gadgets at cheaper rate than in the western countries. Some important goods that are available in Singapore are discussed below:

Sports goods: Sports are widely available in the Queensway Shopping Centre. You can also get different shops in Alexandra Rd. Sometimes you will get nothing but sports goods shops at those places. Foreigner-sized sporty clothing and shoes are available here. Teen aged and also youths always get attracted to these shops. Bargain is an important keyword for these shops. You can easily expect to get 40-50% off the price from the shops in Orchard for the same sports items. Velocity in Novena is also devoted to sports goods. I won’t say martial arts equipment is hard to find in Singapore but of course sometimes you have to search for those. Most of the clothing shops around Pagoda Street in Chinatown sell basic silk taiji or wushu uniforms. If you are planning to buy weapons such as swords, a permit should be applied from the local police. They will charge around $10 to get your weaponry out of the country.

Mobile phones: You will get some good mobiles at cheaper rate in Singapore. These are available in competitive price range and the reason is high consumer volume. The fashionable mobile phones are available throughout the country. You can buy both used and new. These are not SIM locked, so they can be used anywhere. Surprisingly many shops will allow you to ‘trade in’ an older phone to offset the cost of a new one.

Peranakan goods: The Peranakan or Malay-Chinese may be vanishing but their colorful clothing and artwork are still gives a vibrant touch to any wardrobe or home. Especially the distinctive pastel-colored ceramics are still widely available. You can find that antiques are expensive, but modern replicas are quite within your means. The largest selection and also the best prices can be found in Katong on the East Coast.

Watches: Watches are another attraction in Singapore. High-end watches are very competitive in pricing. There are some stores present in Ngee Ann City from the likes of Piaget and Cartier, while Millenia Walk features the Cortina Watch Espace retailing 30 brands from Audemars Piguet to Patek Philippe, as well as several other standalone shops.
